Safety

Updated Friday September 2, 2016 by Kathy Keating.

SPPAA’s coaches and many of our volunteers are required to satisfy comprehensive Diocesan Youth Protection standards.  Dependent upon the specific athletic activity/program, sport-specific training may also be required.

Be you coach, volunteer, parent/guardian or spectator, there is some training which is just good to have in the event it is ever needed:

                          AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

                          CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

                          First Aid

  • The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) hosts a Learning Center which offers a broad range of online courses.  One of them is a free (as of May 2016) course titled “Concussion in Sports”.
  • Saint Patrick Parish periodically holds sessions to acclimate its volunteers to the availability of first aid supplies and/or emergency items.  The Emergency Procedures Handbook for Saint Patrick Parish is a helpful resource to augment those sessions.

Thanks for helping to keep our athletes safe!
